Ty is the founder and principal of First Ascent Planning LLC, an advice-only, fee-only financial planning firm registered as an investment adviser with the State of Idaho. Ty helps people make thoughtful financial decisions with greater clarity and confidence. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, Ty provides comprehensive, unbiased advice tailored to each client’s goals and values.

Before launching First Ascent Planning, Ty built and sold a successful artisan bakery (460 Bread).  During that journey, Ty discovered a passion for financial planning by helping employees navigate benefits, manage debt, and plan for the future. 

Ty brings the same entrepreneurial spirit, care, and practical insight to his financial planning practice. He believes that financial planning should be accessible, collaborative, and grounded in trust.

Outside of work, Ty is a passionate rock climber who has established some of the most challenging rock climbs in the Teton region, where he lives with his wife and two sons.
